Free Technical Assistance and Feasibility Screenings

Organization Description
U.S. DOE Intermountain Clean Energy Application Center We offer free Level 1 and Level 2 feasibility screenings to help determine if recycled energy, CHP, waste heat recovery, or district energy is a good fit for your site, both technically and financially. We also provide other free technical and policy assistance and advice. (For businesses outside of AZ, CO, NM, UT, or WY, contact your regional center.)

Recent Documents from the U.S. DOE Intermountain Clean Energy Application Center

Title Date Type
Project Profile: University of Utah. A large urban campus in Salt Lake City, Utah, installed a new recycled energy system in 2008 that provides 10% of the of the lower campus’ electric load and 100% of the thermal load, all at high efficiency and a lower cost than separate heat and power. Mar 2011 PDF
Presentation: Governors Energy Office Meeting with Community Energy Coordinators. Our role in promoting recycled energy in Colorado, and the 11 factors that determine a good CHP project Jan 2011 PDF
Project Profile: Kennecott Utah Copper Refinery. The nation's second-largest copper producer uses a 6-MW CHP system to cut the refinery's NOx by 90%, SO2 by 99%, and greenhouse gases by 36,000 tons. Fall 2010 PDF
Project Profile: Kennecott Utah Copper Smelter. Kennecott integrated a 32-MW waste heat recovery into the modernization of its smelter. Fall 2010 PDF
Project Profile: Trailblazer Pipeline. Highline Electric Asso. in northeast Colorado turns waste heat from a pipeline compressor station into a fuel-free, emission-free 4 MW of renewable energy. Summer 2010 PDF
